For Fire & EMS Personnel

Disclaimer: This course no longer meets the requirements put forth by the state of Connecticut. You can still take the course for learning purposes, but it cannot be used for credit once CTOEMS’ course is running.

This CT DCF Human Trafficking Course for Fire & EMS Personnel is 100% online and meets all state requirements.  Introduction to Human Trafficking was created in collaboration between CT DCF and MissionCIT.  It is free to use, but you need to first ‘purchase the course’, and then you will get access.  You do not need a credit card to sign up.  If the ‘Add to Cart’ button is active, please press and follow the instructions.  If you have already ‘purchased’ the course and are logged in, please click the button to ‘start or continue learning.’

You must be logged in to use the course and get credit.  You can take the course all at once or lesson by lesson as time permits.  Watch the video below to learn how to use the MissionCIT Learning Management Portal.

If you already received a login and forgot the password, do not create a new login.  Rather, ask for a password reset using the login button on the top menu.  If you need help, send an email to: [email protected] or open the chatbot in the lower right corner and ask the chatbot for help with your question(s).

By the end of this course, you will have a solid understanding of the legislation and types of trafficking, what is happening here in Connecticut, to whom, by whom, what are the warning signs, the impact of child trafficking, and how you can make a difference.

Thank you for being here and becoming an ally in combating this issue.

MissionCIT builds its own Online courses for EMS and Fire.  The EMS courses are certified by CT OEMS with course numbers.  MissionCIT provides Online refreshers for EMRs, EMTs and Paramedics along with Initial EMR & EMT courses.  DCF was informed by CT OEMS about MissionCIT’s capabilities and decided it was time to provide an online offering for Human Trafficking.

The Chatbot in the lower right-hand corner exclusively uses content from the Human Trafficking Course. No public information is used, and user questions do not affect the content.

However, the large language model (AI) behind this moderates anything that touches upon children and sexual content, which is a big part of this course.  So the chatbot will not answer those questions and will just flash a black cursor.  You can then go on and ask another question.

BTW, the chatbot is multilingual, so you can ask for answers in most languages.

MissionCIT has a Mandated Reporter Training course bundle that you can purchase for $15, and includes the Introduction to Human Trafficking course. You can find more information here
