At our new MCIT Tactical Fire Training Center at Rocky Hill FD, we are offering core curriculum and firefighter skills open enrollment courses!

If you’re done with choreographed burns and overstaffed drills that feel more like theater than reality, it’s time to level up. MissionCIT’s all-new Tactical Fire Training Center is built for firefighters who want to train like they fight – hard, fast, and under pressure. Explore open courses below.

For core curriculum classes, we offer flexible payment options: pay in 2, 3, or 4 installments, depending on the class length. A 25% deposit is required to reserve your spot if you’re not paying in full at booking. MissionCIT will email you an invoice for the deposit. Please contact us after registering to discuss your payment plan. If your department is paying, provide us with their contact information.

Open enrollment courses are paid by credit card only in order to accommodate demand for the courses. Receipts can be provided upon request if you’d like to submit to your department for reimbursement.

Realities of the Fireground

The Realities of Fireground Operations: Stop Playing Fire Academy and Start Training for the Street

Course Description: The Realities of Fireground Operations is an intensive, full-day live-fire training course designed to bridge the gap between traditional fire academy drills and the unpredictable, high-pressure conditions of today’s fireground. This 8-hour program challenges firefighters with realistic, high-stress scenarios that reflect the staffing, visibility, and resource limitations commonly faced in the field.

Unlike scripted training environments, this course immerses participants in dynamic evolutions where equipment fails, conditions deteriorate rapidly, and success depends on grit, skill, and decision-making under pressure. Firefighters will operate in crews of three — replicating real-world staffing — and face live-fire challenges including zero-visibility searches, advanced forcible entry, handline deployment under duress, and victim removals without support.

Course Highlights:

Realistic staffing: 3-person engine company operations
Live-fire evolutions with limited visibility and degraded conditions
Emphasis on SCBA management, gear limitations, and crew communication
Eight full-scale scenarios replicating street-level fireground chaos
No resets, no lunch breaks — just continuous, immersive training
Capped at 24 students to ensure individualized performance feedback

Who Should Attend: This course is designed for career and volunteer firefighters who want to build operational readiness, sharpen fireground decision-making, and experience the demands of modern firefighting beyond the controlled training environment.

Tuition: $450 per student

Learning Outcome: Participants will leave this course with a candid understanding of their personal and team capabilities under fireground conditions that mirror real-life emergencies. This course emphasizes readiness, adaptability, and performance when it matters most.

- Live Fire: Structural Firefighting Gear within NFPA standards, SCBA with 3 spare bottles within NFPA standards. Ready to work attitude.
- Technical Rescue (Extrication & Everyday Entrapment): Structural Firefighting PPE or Technical Rescue PPE, Eye Protection, Hearing Protection
