The Bowling Green Daily News recently published an article highlighting major upgrades to Warren County’s fire protection system. These improvements stem from MissionCIT’s fire service consulting project completed in May 2024.

In the article, written by Jack Dobbs, “Ball rolling on upgrades to county fire departments,” county officials explain how MissionCIT conducted a comprehensive assessment of the volunteer fire department system. They provided strategic recommendations to improve fire protection and service delivery countywide.

MissionCIT’s study focused on strengthening the fire system and supporting long-term sustainability. The report recommended improving funding, hiring a full-time County Fire Coordinator, a full-time Volunteer Recruitment & Retention Coordinator, and full-time county firefighters. Another key recommendation was that the report improved communication and decision-making across the system.

Since the project’s completion, Warren County has made measurable progress. As of January 2026, the county has hired nine full-time firefighters, a major milestone for its fire protection model. The county is actively recruiting new members and has placed orders for new fire resources, enhancing operational readiness and public safety.

These developments show how data driven consulting, combined with strong leadership, produces real improvements in firefighter safety, efficiency, and community protection.
