Lead EMT-B Skills Instructor
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Skills Instructor to oversee our EMT-Basic NREMT psychomotor skills training program. This leadership position is responsible for coordinating skills instruction, managing instructor teams, and ensuring consistent high-quality training that meets NREMT standards.
Schedule
· Classes held on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
· Four program sessions per year:
o January (12-week program)
o April (12-week program)
o June (7-week accelerated program)
o September (12-week program)
· 6 in-person Saturday sessions per program, occurring every other week
· Compensation: $35.00 per hour
Primary Responsibilities
· Supervise and coordinate a team of skills instructors
· Create and maintain standardized skills training plans aligned with NREMT requirements
· Ensure consistency in instruction across all skill stations
· Monitor student progress and identify areas needing additional focus
· Oversee setup and organization of all skill stations
· Conduct instructor briefings and debriefings
· Maintain inventory of training equipment and supplies
· Coordinate with program director on curriculum alignment
· Provide mentorship to new skills instructors
· Ensure all documentation meets program and regulatory requirements
· Lead regular instructor development sessions
· Evaluate instructor performance and provide feedback
Required Qualifications
· Current Connecticut EMT-B certification or higher
· Minimum 5 years of field experience as an EMT
· Minimum 2 years of EMT instructor experience
· Current AHA BLS CPR Instructor certification
· Demonstrated leadership experience
· Expert knowledge of NREMT Psychomotor Examination requirements
· Strong organizational and communication skills
· Experience with adult education methodologies
· Proven ability to manage and motivate teams
· Reliable transportation to the training facility
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience as an NREMT Psychomotor Examination evaluator
· Advanced life support certifications (AEMT or Paramedic)
· Previous experience in a lead instructor role
· Background in quality assurance/quality improvement
· Experience with educational technology and simulation
· Fire service or emergency response background
· Current Connecticut EMS Instructor certification
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift and move training equipment up to 50 pounds
· Capable of demonstrating all physical skills required of an EMT
· Able to stand and move about classroom/lab settings for extended periods
· Ability to kneel, bend, and perform physical demonstrations of EMT skills
