MissionCIT offers the following training course, “Street Wrecks Extrication Class” in accordance with NFPA standards. This is a one-day course by MissionCIT’s instructors, hosted by Seymour Auto Wrecking. Lunch and hydration will be provided. This booking option is for Saturday, November 14, 2026.

Street Wrecks is an aggressive, hands-on vehicle extrication course focused on the fundamentals that make good rescue companies effective: stabilize the vehicle, understand what the metal is doing, make smart cuts, create space, and get the job done.

Students will work through realistic vehicle positions and learn how to build solid stabilization systems without wasting time or equipment. From there, the course moves into advanced cutting, spreading, lifting, and displacement techniques designed around today’s vehicle construction and the problems firefighters routinely encounter on the street.

This isn’t a class about memorizing ten different evolutions for a test. It’s about understanding why a technique works, recognizing when it doesn’t, and being able to adapt when the wreck in front of you doesn’t look anything like the one you trained on.

THE WORK
The day will focus heavily on hands-on repetitions involving:
  • Vehicles on their side
  • Vehicles on their roof
  • Rapid and progressive stabilization
  • Cribbing, step chocks, struts and tensioned stabilization
  • Tool placement and creating purchase points
  • Advanced cutting and spreading techniques
  • Door and side removal
  • Roof removal and displacement
  • Dash and interior-space management
  • Working around reinforced vehicle construction
  • Creating patient-removal pathways
  • Tool positioning in tight or awkward working areas
  • Alternative techniques when the textbook move isn’t working
  • Coordinating the rescue team so everyone isn’t fighting for the same three feet of wreck
The goal is simple:
Quit training only for the perfect wreck. Get good at the wrecks you actually run.
Students should leave the course more confident putting a vehicle on solid footing, reading the wreck, choosing the right technique, and aggressively creating space for patient removal.
Stabilize it. Make the cut. Create the space. Get ’em out.
Training Session will be at:
  • Seymour Auto Wrecking
  • 107 New Haven Rd
  • Seymour, CT 06483
