An Excerpt from the course on Shock And Resuscitation 

Treatment for shock caused by fluid loss:

Shock may be because of (a) internal bleeding or (b) external bleeding.

 Internal bleeding:

In addition to classic signs of shock like confusion, rapid pulse, cold and clammy skin, and rapid breathing, the symptoms of internal bleeding include:

1. Coughing or vomiting of blood.
2. Abdominal tenderness, rigidity, bruising, distension.
3. Rectal bleeding.
4. Vaginal bleeding in women. And,
5. Classic signs of shock.

Patients may die quickly and quietly because of internal bleeding. The cause of internal bleeding may be because of rupture in the spleen, liver, or large blood vessels. Bleeding from stomach ulcers, ruptured blood vessels, or tumors can cause internal bleeding and shock. This bleeding can be spontaneous, massive, and rapid, often leading to the loss of large quantities of blood by vomiting or bloody diarrhea.
